Call for Applications: Researcher/Report Writer on the digital book publishing industry (Deadline: March 18, 2016)
Terms of Reference
1. Position: Researcher/Report Writer on the digital book publishing industry in the Philippines from 2010 to 2015
2. Duration: 4 Months.
The project will begin immediately as soon as the contract is signed.
3. Budget: For negotiation.
The budget will be negotiated based on the proposal of the researcher and the agency’s available resources.
4. Background
The National Book Development Board (NBDB) is the lead agency promoting the continuing development of the book publishing industry to ensure an adequate and accessible supply of quality books for the global market.
With the proliferation of digital devices and gadgets in the past decade, it is expected that the digital book publishing industry has also grown. But data on the digital book publishing and reading in the Philippines are few and scattered. The latest research partially directed towards knowing the digital book publishing industry was conducted by NBDB in 2012 through the NBDB Readership Survey.
5. Objectives
The main objectives of the research are as follows:
a. Provide a clear view of the digital book publishing industry in the Philippines
b. Impart a better understanding and appreciation of the current state of the digital book publishing industry in the Philippines

8. Reportings
The research report and analysis will be presented to the NBDB Management Committee on April 20 and on April 29, 2016 during the 7th Philippine International Literary Festival (PILF) in the panel “Mapping digital activity in Philippine Publishing”.
9. Qualifications
The following specific qualifications must be met by the Researcher/Report Writer:
a. Prior experience in conducting industry research
b. General understanding of or experience in the book publishing industry
c. Strong analytical skills
d. Knowledge, understanding and practical implementation of research methods and analytical tools
e. Ability to collate and synthesize qualitative and quantitative data
f. Highly developed communication skills, including the preparation of high quality reports

a. Expression of interest to undertake the study
b. Outline of the research methodology/approach to be adapted
c. 4-month workplan/timetable for conducting the research and writing the report

e. Curriculum Vitae (CV) of researcher which includes brief profile of relevant research conducted, and references
