The National Book Development Board (NBDB) and the Manila Critics Circle (MCC) are now accepting entries to the 33rd National Book Awards (NBA). Deadline of submissions of nominations has been extended to May 30, 2014. Books mailed from outside Manila will be accepted if postmarked May 30, 2014.

Some revisions have been made to this year’s rules and procedures, particularly the inclusion of digital or electronic books as eligible books and the addition of such categories as Translation, History and Journalism, and Food. Also, books nominated for the Literary Division must be in English, Filipino, or Bicolano.

There will be Special Awards; such as Juan C. Laya Prize, Alfonso T. Ongpin Prize, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Prize, Isagani R. Cruz Prize, Cirilo F. Bautista Prize, Philippine Literary Arts Council Prize, Elfren S. Cruz Prize, and Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino Prize, which will be chosen from among the winners of the National Book Awards.
