Once upon a time, in an unassailable fort, an invisible kingdom, a secret galaxy, lived a child— you. You were a rebel, a fairy, an alien. You were different, brave, and inquisitive. Though you were sometimes hurt, confused, let down, you always found courage. You battled bullies, monsters, and fought the mundane. One day, you became a grown-up and slowly forgot about the triumphs that made you special. This summer, you will turn the pages of a good children’s book, and find yourself again in that extraordinary place you once left behind.

On May 30-31, 2013, the NBDB, in partnership with the Museo Pambata, is hosting a literary festival that will focus on children’s content, an important and thriving aspect of the book publishing industry. Called the “NBDB Little Lit Festival,” the occasion promises to bring together content creators and producers with parents, teachers, librarians, and anyone interested in quality content for children. Ken Spillman, Australian-based writer of the Jake series; Candy Gourlay, London-based writer of Tall Story; Christopher Cheng, Australian-based creator of the picture books Sounds Spooky, One Child, and Python; Myra Garces Bacsal, clinical psychologist, writer, and lecturer at the National Institute of Education in Singapore; husband and wife team Adam Jimenez and Felicia Low-Jimenez, co-authors of Sherlock Sam; and many other writers, illustrators, and publishers are expected to attend the festival.

The NBDB Little Lit Festival, the first of its kind, will be held at the Museo Pambata at Roxas Boulevard cor. South Drive, Manila. Expected to attend are book and literature enthusiasts, teachers, students, librarians, publishers, and authors from all over the country. The festival will also include panel discussions, workshops, a book and crafts fair, exhibits, and performances.
