On July 26, 2014, the National Book Development Board (NBDB) and the Philippine Board on Books for Young People (PBBY) will present the 3rd National Children’s Book Awards, giving honor to the best books for children and young adults published during the years 2012 and 2013.

All publishers, authors and illustrators are invited to submit their nominations. Download a full copy of the rules (here ) and nomination form (here ). Deadline for submission of nominations is on January 31, 2014.

During the 2nd National Children’s Book Awards held in 2012, six books were chosen as the Best Reads of 2012 from a total of 117 books nominated: Ay Naku! written by Reni Roxas, illustrated by Sergio Bumatay III, and published by Ilaw ng Tahanan Publishing, Inc.; Ang Sampung Bukitkit written by Eugene Y. Evasco, illustrated by Ibarra Crisostomo, and published by LG & M Corporation; Doll Eyes written by Eline Santos, illustrated by Joy Mallari, translated by Augie Rivera, and published by CANVAS (Center for Art, New Ventures & Sustainable Development Corporation); Tall Story written by Candy Gourlay, illustrated by Yasmin Ong, and published by Cacho Publishing House; The Great Duck and Crocodile Race written and illustrated by Robert Magnuson and published by OMF Literature, Inc.; and The Secret is in the Soil written by Gidget R. Jimenez and Flor G. Tarriela, illustrated by Liza Flores, and published by Conquest for Christ Foundation, Inc.
