Portraits of Confinement depicts my personal life in the past four months, while in quarantine. The pandemic has forced us into different forms of confinement—the physical, the social, the emotional, and even the political. I’ve learned how to cut my own hair, host a Zoom meeting, talk to photographs in my room, and even celebrate my birthday without having to go outside. This confinement has made me feel like I was imprisoned, but not in a typical jail cell though: it is a prison where I am only allowed to live the same life day after day, and die a hundred times in the process.
