Quezon City, Philippines. Bring your story to a wider audience! As we celebrate the National Literature Month, the National Book Development Board is offering a P1.6 million translation grant to authors and publishers as part of its National Translation Subsidy Program and International Translation Subsidy Program, beginning March 24, 2022.
We offer translation grants to Filipino authors and publishers who wish to translate and publish their books into other Filipino and international languages. We recognize the need to produce more Filipino books written in mother tongue as well as international languages in order to increase readership among Filipinos and enhance our diasporic cultural footprint around the world.
For national translations, our grant is open for Children’s Literature, Graphic Literature, Classics, Contemporary Fiction, Non-Fiction, Historical, and Cultural works. We prioritize the translation of Filipino or English titles into Ilocano, Cebuano, Waray, Hiligaynon, Meranaw, Tausug, Kiniray-A, although other languages are also accepted.
For international translations, our grant welcomes applications for Children’s Literature, Culinary Literature, Graphic Literature, Classics, Contemporary Fiction, Non-Fiction, Historical, and Cultural publications. The translation of titles in Filipino languages or Philippine content in English into German, Spanish, French, Arabic, Japanese, and Chinese languages is prioritized.
